Tom volunteered with the 10th Light Horse Regiment, Machine Gun Squadron, before WW1.





Tom and the rest of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion reached Singapore on 24th January, 1942 and were immediately involved in the defence of Singapore. One third of the Battalion were wounded, missing or killed by the time of the surrender of Singapore on 15th February, 1942 and Tom and his brothers were taken prisoner. He died on the Sandakan Death March on 11th March, one month after his brothers.
