Search Terms

The images themselves are not searchable. However, every typed word on the page becomes a search term - the words in the Infobox, the caption under a photo, the transcribed words from a letter or diary. By entering a word in the Search Box at the top of the page you can search for a Name, a Unit, a Ship, a birthplace, the name of a parent, a town or suburb where the person was born or lived and many other terms.
There are also search terms hidden behind the images. These are Categories or Tags that can be used to find certain groups of people. When you are searching for a two word term ie. Western Front, it is best to use quotation marks ie. "Western Front".
