Eileen served in Northam as a Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD) working as a nursing orderly. In 1942 she transferred to the Australian Women's Army Service (AWAS) and served at the Quartering and Claims Office in Northam. She then worked at 124 Australian General Transport at Karrakatta in the Orderly Room until transferring to the Australian Corps of Signals as a W/T Operator. She worked in Alice Springs before volunteering for overseas service in Bouganville. She then returned to Defence Force Finance in Subiaco until the end of the war.
