The 10th Light Horse Regiment was raised in October 1914 and over men 500 enlisted within 8 weeks from all over Western Australia. Some of these men subsequently transferred into the 3rd Machine Gun Squadron that provided support for the Light Horsemen and others were to transfer into the Camel Corps when that was later raised.
There was a lot of movement in and out of the 10th Light Horse Regiment. Soldiers transferred out to join other Battalions and Units. Soldiers transferred into the Regiment from other Battalions. There was a constant stream of Reinforcements arriving from Western Australia to replace the casualties and keep the Regiment up to strength.
Phil Sullivan has spent decades creating his travelling 10th Light Horse display, has amassed over 2200 photos and continues to search for photos of all the men who served with the Regiment during WW1. He has travelled with his full size model of a horse, a uniformed mannequin and cases of memorabilia all over Western Australia, and families have shared their photos with him. He now shares his image collection here with all of us and continues his passion to remember, honour and share the history of the 10th Light Horse Regiment with current and future generations.
