- Mick Armstrong was a political cartoonist during WW2 and this magazine is a compilation of his cartoons. His foreword explains - After five brave years of struggle, pre-war pants are beginning to go. Soon they will be as rare as fish, peanuts, cigarettes or bottled beer. We 'Eat Less Fruit'. 'Drink Less Milk', 'Consume Coal Carefully', and 'Squash Squanderbugs Savagely'. We submit to government by regulation, postulation and strangulation. We are surrounded by 'Quota Sold' signs and 'Ear-bashed' by 'Reconstruction Roisterers'. Yeah our pants are wearing thin. But there's still enough of them left for us to sit down and laugh at ourselves.
