The 11th Battalion was raised in Western Australia in the first few weeks of WW1. The Nominal Roll listing the men who embarked at Fremantle on the 2nd November, 1914,and sailed on the transport "Ascanius" can be seen here.

This photo was taken on the steps of the Cheops Pyramid in Egypt on January 10, 1915. Many of the 704 men in the photo have been identified through the WAGS 11Bn Project.
