- Mick Armstrong was a political cartoonist for the Argus newpaper during WW2. This magazine is a compilation of the cartoons that appeared each week in the Argus Week-end Magazine. His foreword explains It is a grim life on the home front that has no grin. In the drawings within these pages I have endeavoured to see the lighter side of such civilian encumbrances as rationing, coupons, shortages, priorities, regimentation and taxation, inseparable from the successful conduct of total war.
