The 11th Battalion was raised in Western Australia in the first few weeks of WW1. The Nominal Roll listing the men who embarked at Fremantle on the 2nd November, 1914,and sailed on the transport "Ascanius" can be seen here.

The 11th Battalion was one of the first battalions to land on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 25th April, 1915 and was finally withdrawn on 17th November, 1915.



This photo was taken on the steps of the Great Pyramid of Giza (Cheops) in Egypt on January 10, 1915. There were 1024 men in the original recruits for the 11th Battalion and 704 men marched to the Great Pyramid to have their photo taken. Many of the men in the photo have been identified through the WAGS 11Bn Project.

11th Battalion reunion dinner program. Held on Monday December 30th, 1918 at St George's Hall, Perth. Located amongst the papers of FIRTH, John William - 43, 285, 985
