Percy Blythe volunteered with the 86th Infantry (Citizen Military Force) prior to WW1.
Percy's original application to join the Australian Imperial Force had been rejected because of his bad feet. He applied again in June 1915 and was accepted into the Number 15 Supply Depot Company. After 6 weeks he transferred to C Company, 32nd Infantry Battalion. He was then discharged from this Battalion.
A few months later Percy Blythe tried again to enlist in the AIF. This time he was accepted as part of the 8th Reinforcements for the 28th Infantry Battalion.
